Novadata Races Ahead with Driver CPC

Novadata has held a special midnight launch event for the PCV Driver CPC.  At 00.01 on 10 September 2008 Novadata's training team delivered the UK’s first seven hour approved course towards attaining the Driver CPC.

It was a long night for the attending candidates who registered at 23.30 on Tuesday 9th September. The event was a great success, with candidates coming from across the country, and concluded with a full champagne breakfast at 08.00 hours on 10 September.

Richard Zarywacz, of Reading based Two Rivers Travel, commented: "This felt like quite a momentous occasion to take part in the first session of periodic training in Europe. The course content was excellent and I continue to be really impressed with Novadata.

"At Two Rivers we are committed to safety and doing things properly. We are passionate about everything we do and I recognise that same passion in Novadata."

Managing Director, Derek Broomfield said: “We held this launch event to turn a spotlight on professional drivers and underline their ongoing commitment and dedication to improving road safety. Training is one of the most important elements in transport today. At a time when companies are facing the twin challenges of rising fuel prices and the unavoidable need to reduce carbon emissions, we aim to ensure this potentially complicated new CPC legislation remains straightforward and stress-free for all our clients.”

The EU Directive 2003/59 that introduces the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) came into force across all European Union member states on 10 September 2008 for all bus and coach drivers and will be followed on 10 September 2009 for lorry drivers. Its implementation heralds yet another sea-change for the transport industry. In future, just holding a vocational driving licence will not be sufficient for someone who wishes to drive such vehicles for a living. Employers will have a responsibility to ensure all the drivers they employ hold the correct certificate and licence.
