Novadata Advises on New ADR Changes
Novadata’s training team has prepared a new half day course to explain the very significant new ADR changes that will affect both CARRIER and CONSIGNOR from 1 January 2009.
At present, it is the responsibility of the CONSIGNOR to supply instructions in writing for the carriage of dangerous goods; these instructions are known as TREMCARDS and each substance carried has its own TREMCARD.
From the 1 January the responsibility for providing this document will rest with the CARRIER. The driver and any vehicle crew will have to decide what equipment to carry and what action to take in the event of an incident. There will be only ONE document to cover all substances carried. It will be the responsibility of the CARRIER to provide this new 4 page document.
From the 1 January 2009 CONSIGNORS will have no responsibility for supplying written instructions. There are also changes to limited quantities and a new addition ‘excepted quantities’, vehicle markings and the addition of extra placards.
There is also a requirement in the new regulations for ANY person involved in the movement of Hazardous Goods to have recieved appropriate training on their responsibilities and security, and for this training to be documented. ie. Loaders, Warehouse Staff, Routing Staff etc.
Novadata’s short but comprehensive new course will outline the new responsibilities and requirements to managers and drivers and explain the new 4 page document.
The courses will start in November and cost £65.00 plus VAT per candidate. Any new ADR candidates from January 2009 will receive the new legislation as part of their normal ADR course.
