| When the Road Transport Regulations on working time were introduced in April 2005, they allowed workers and employers to vary night work limits as well as to extend and set by calendar the reference periods used for calculating average working time by way of collective (union) or workforce agreements. The processes for reaching these agreements are laid down in the legislation and agreements are restricted to last no more that five years. Presuming many of the first agreements were reached in spring 2005, many will also need revisiting and re-negotiating over the coming months. |
