• Possible funding by the DfT available until March 2010
• Driver CPC registered by JAUPT (courses ref CRS1451/01) for 7 hours periodic retraining

Our SAFED Bus & Coach training can:

• Reduce fuel costs
• Reduce the risk of accidents
• Improve passenger safety and comfort
• Help to demonstrate Duty of Care
• Increase driver confidence in vehicle control
• Reduce maintenance cost, vehicle downtime, driver stress and fatigue

It builds on the successful feasibility study carried out in 2006/07. The study showed that SAFED can help participating Bus and Coach operators achieve significant long-term saving if SAFED techniques are consistently employed. The following on the day results were achieved:

• The majority of drivers showed between 5% and 15% fuel saving (with an average of 10%).
• There was an average 40% reduction in gear changes.
• There was a 60% reduction in safety related faults.

With an increasing emphasis placed on passenger safety, drivers are a critical factor for bus and coach operators in minimising the risk of accidents and injuries. They can also play a key role in reducing operator running costs – vehicle sympathy and driving style can significantly affect fuel consumption and vehicle wear and tear.

Any business operating buses and coaches which is concerned about safety and running costs, should be considering the DfT endorsed SAFED course as a way to maximize performance.

The SAFED course can be an effective component of an operator’s toolbox, and is particularly powerful when applied with other measures such as the close monitoring of fuel use and driver incentive schemes.
