What price do you put on your operator licence?
Business owners often don't realise the legal obligations they undertake with O-Licensing and many people who attend our Operator’s Licence Undertaking course are completely new to operating LGV & PSV vehicles. They find that our training provides an better understanding of what is required from a business to protect their operator licence and maintain a strong Operator Licence Risk Score (OCRS).
This one day course is aimed at business owners and Transport Managers that are unfamiliar with their legal responsibilities and the latest legislation regarding their operators' licence undertakings.
"A large number of operators appearing at public inquiry are still ignorant of exactly what is required of a Transport Manager”
(Richard Turfitt - Traffic Commissioner, Eastern Traffic Area Jan 2011)
The course also provides a ‘hands-on’ practical understanding of the necessary processes and checks required to ensure compliance with both the letter and the spirit of the Operator Licence System.
The course will cover the ongoing management of the licence in changing business conditions. Delegates will:
• Have a better understanding of the principles underpinning the O Licence System
• Have a clear understanding of the level of commitment and activity needed to create effective
management control systems
• Be able to clarify requirements to other staff, either superiors or reportees
• Be in a position to contribute cost effective, practical solutions regarding compliance in this
area
• Understand how the OCRS system works and how can have a positive effect on this score
• Know where to go for follow-up advice and guidance
• Understand their role in managing the O Licence
• Understand other colleagues’ role in managing the O Licence
• Prioritise actions to gain maximum benefit in the shortest time
• Be up-to-date with the latest changes in legislation
• Contribute to a beneficial Health & safety culture in their operation
"I am disappointed that many operators have not even provided drivers with the first seven hours of training in the first year. I urge them not to leave it too long and to set up a driver training plan to avoid being caught out at the last minute.”
(Beverley Bell - Traffic Commissioner, North Western Area)
