ADR Driver Training Photo Card

ADR Driver Training Photo Card Certification Implementation

The Dangerous Goods Driver Training (DGDT) contract has been administered by SQA since October 2006. Currently the certification of the scheme is performed by the DVLA for Great Britain and DVA for Northern Ireland. Changes to ADR 2011 saw the current model paper certificate superseded by a plastic card that will include a recent photograph of the candidate with effect from 1 January 2013.

Please be advised that from Monday 29th October SQA will be issuing the new DGDT photo card certification for both Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

With the introduction of the photo card certificate scheme improvements have been made to the DGDT online database. Candidates will be assigned a unique candidate number which will hold all candidate information and certificate entitlement details. Training Providers will be able to search for and assign candidates to their course from existing candidates' records: if no record exists for initial candidates, a new one can be created.

Training Providers will be required to capture the candidates photograph and signature. Initially SQA will manage the upload of photographs and signatures onto the database. Training Providers must complete a Scanning Form for each candidate. They must make sure the candidates sign their signature within the appropriate box and that a passport sized photograph is attached to the Scanning Form. Scanning Forms must be returned to SQA at the same time as the Candidates Exam Response Sheets.

Instructions on how to enrol candidates on the database will be made available to Training Providers via the Documents Library. The Manual of Practice will also be amended to reflect any new processes. Training Providers can find all forms to download via SQA's Document Library.

Existing paper certificatesissued by the DVLA will continue to remain valid until their expiry date. However those wishing to apply for a new style photo card certificate can do so completing DGDT Replacement Application Form. The Fee for a replacement certificate is £10.00. Please check out SQA website for more details on replacement applications.
