Novadata revised LGV50 defect report book aids compliance with new DVSA Guide to Roadworthiness

Novadata has issued a revised version of its market leading LGV50 Vehicle Check and Defect Report book, which assists O Licence holders to comply with the DVSA's newly published updated Guide to Road Worthiness. The revised LGV50 book also contains several additional items which are requested by FORS, helping Operators to achieve and maintain FORS membership.

"Thousands of drivers across the UK rely on Novadata vehicle check and defect report books to help them to conduct daily walkaround checks correctly so, naturally, we update them from time to time to reflect improvements in industry best practice," says Novadata Managing Director, Su Winch. "We are helping drivers to comply with the new DVSA Guide to Roadworthiness with this new version, but we've also gone a stage further, including elements which are required by FORS for members of their scheme."

Novadata's LGV50 book is designed to create duplicate copies of each day's walkaround check. Keeping accurate records is vital as, under section 6 of the DVSA Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness, the Operator must have a system in place to quality monitor daily checks. This means that they must also have a process in place to keep accurate records of daily checks.

The revised LGV50 book helps to provide evidence of the required checks and records in the event of an inspection by the Police, the DVSA or a Traffic Commissioner, and helps to provide a robust record for FORS membership applications. It also helps to demonstrate compliance with O Licence undertakings and with the Road Traffic Act 1988.

The book takes the driver clearly through each stage of the daily walkaround check with a simple tick list. However, as part of periodic Driver CPC training, Novadata also offers JAUPT approved courses which cover the correct procedure for daily walkaround checks, so that drivers can conduct them confidently and in accordance with best practice.
