Novadata explains truth and consequences of business succession at Coach & Bus 2019
NEC Stand L34 2-3 October 2019
Transport training and tachograph analysis experts Novadata will be offering delegates to Coach & Bus 2019 some vital succession planning advice on safeguarding O Licence continuity across the generations of a family business. This is necessary, says Novadata, due to the number of aging O Licence holders in the UK transport industry and the need to ensure that the next generation is sufficiently qualified to make a smooth transition in business management and ownership.
“The truth is that many Operator Licence holders acquired their Transport Manager CPC through ‘Grandfather rights’,” warned Novadata Chairman Derek Broomfield. “A large number of these are either nearing retirement or taking more holiday time as they start the handover to the next generation. Unfortunately, it is also true that large numbers are failing to recognise that the next generation must have a Management CPC holder – and that the current generation still need the covering of a Transport Manager CPC holder when the original O Licence holder is sick or on holiday.
“The consequences of not having a Management CPC holder are potentially disastrous,” continues Derek Broomfield. “You could find that you are operating illegally, therefore you are open to losing the O Licence, and that can spell the end of the business as a whole.”
Novadata will also give advice about Driver CPC training and how to meet the next deadline by planning well in advance, making training a part of ongoing professional driver development, as requested by The Traffic Commissioners.
Novadata will be advising delegates on how to ensure that the business is sufficiently covered during annual leave and sickness, as well as during the succession process, ensuring that the next generation is able to operate legally and efficiently.
The company will also be showcasing its outstanding range of transport services, including tachograph analysis, driving licence checks and a daily walkaround check app. Novadata can now offer a single login for all three services, saving valuable management time and making retrieving information simple and easy to manage.
Novadata’s range of specially developed transport products which aid compliance and best practice will also be on display.
