Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) Training Courses Initial & Refresher
EC Directive 96/35 requires companies involved in the transport, distribution and loading of dangerous goods consigned by road, rail or inland waterway to appoint a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA
s are responsible for helping to prevent the adverse consequences of the risks inherent in such activities in relation to people, property and the environment.
The directive requires that DGSA
s shall be qualified by having taken and passed an approved examination and that they shall have been issued with a Vocational Training Certificate (VTC) before taking up their duties. There are no 'grandfather rights'. Every DGSA
must pass the approved examinations. The VTC is valid for 5 years
There are no statutory entry requirements.
Please note that attendance of an ADR course or relevant experience within the industry is strongly recommended prior
to undertaking the DGSA

Candidates must book their own examinations with SQA. Examination fees are to be made payable to SQA.
