Transport Manager CPC Refresher
Once you have gained a Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence, also known as Management CPC, you will be qualified to hold the post of Transport Manager within either a road haulage or passenger transport organisation.
However, this should not be the end of your professional training. Transport legislation evolves and regulations such as Drivers’ Hours or the use of tachographs do change from time to time. They may be revised to reflect new technology or to keep pace with best practice. It is essential that you too keep pace with best practice in order to ensure the compliance of your organisation.
Transport Manager CPC Refresher courses can count towards the 35 hours of periodic Driver CPC training which must be completed every five years by most professional drivers. A one day course can count for up to seven hours, while a two day course counts for up to fourteen hours towards Driver CPC training. Please let us know when booking if you would like your course to be counted towards your Driver CPC training hours total.
If you are a company director rather than a transport manager, you should attend an OLAT course.

Don't neglect your training
The UK Traffic Commissioners, who oversee the regulation of our industry, expect transport managers, and company directors with responsibility for transport, to undertake refresher training every few years, to ensure that they keep pace with legislation and best practice, for the safety of all road users.
If you get into difficulty with compliance, and come to the attention of a Traffic Commissioner, it is almost certain that they will order the transport manager to attend a two-day Transport Manager CPC Refresher course. If your organisation has been involved in any incident which has brought it to the attention of either the DVSA or the Police, it is strongly advised that you attend a two-day Refresher course as soon as possible, and do not wait to be ordered to do so by a Traffic Commissioner.
If you allow your knowledge to become outdated, you could be risking a decline in your Operator Compliance Risk Score, and you may be putting your Operator Licence in jeopardy.
Professionals in most disciplines are expected to undergo some form of continuous professional development, and the transport industry is no exception. Please also remember that your qualification is sector specific, so if you wish to change from passenger transport to road haulage, or vice versa, you will need to gain a new qualification in order to act as a transport manager in your new chosen industry sector. Even if you never swap sector, you should still attend regular refresher training every few years.
