Novadata appoints Mark Lewin as Company Director

Mark Lewin, Novadata’s Training Development Manager for over a decade, has been made a Director of the company. Initially, he will continue to play a hands-on role in delivering the expert transport training courses for which Novadata is renowned, while developing a wider remit in helping to shape the future of the company as a whole.

He commented, “I am both thrilled and honoured to be asked to take on this new challenge, especially as we are all facing an uncertain future. It is hard to think of a time when we have been presented with so many challenges, on so many fronts, all at once. There are still repercussions to come from the Coronavirus pandemic, Brexit and the introduction of new technologies. How we respond to these will be formative for future generations, both as a company and as an industry. So, to be asked to become a Director now, at Novadata, where we will train the drivers of the future as well as the present, is both exciting and rewarding.”

Mark joined Novadata in November 2010, following five years as a professional driver. He grew up absorbed in the workings of the transport industry as his father drove professionally for his entire career, until his retirement. Mark’s own career started differently, in recruitment. Finding himself regarded by colleagues as something of an IT expert, he found he was increasingly called upon, as IT Manager, to train other people. While he enjoyed training, he had no real love for computers, so Mark decided instead to gain some first-hand transport industry experience, and took up driving professionally.

Ironically, he prepared for this phase of his career by sitting his Road Haulage Transport Manager CPC exams at Novadata’s OCR approved examination centre. While in the exam room, the thought crossed his mind that perhaps, one day, he could combine his experience and enjoyment of training with his love of the transport industry. Five years later, he was to make that idea a reality. He sent his CV to Novadata and the rest, as they say, is history.

Su Winch, Managing Director for Novadata, said, “It was a logical next step for us to make Mark a Director. His passion for the industry, and his contribution to seeing best practice adopted and standards raised through expert training, is so in step with the Novadata ethos, that he has long been an integral part of the Novadata team. We are delighted to be asking him to take up this new role as we all look towards what the future will hold and determine the best way to maximise our potential.”
