The Certificate of Professional Competence for passenger transport managers (Transport Manager CPC Passenger Transport) is a level 3 qualification which provides a nationally recognised managerial qualification for managers of coach and bus organisations which operate in the UK alone, or also internationally.

Transport Manager CPC course content:

Your course will be tailored to the Passenger Transport sector. Qualifications are not transferable, so if you already hold a Road Haulage Manager CPC qualification and wish to change to a career in passenger transport management, you will need to obtain the Transport Manager CPC Passenger Transport qualification by studying for and passing the industry specific examination.  Our training centre in Braintree, Essex, is accredited by SEGA (Skills and Education Group Awards) as both a training facility and an examination centre for the Transport Manager CPC qualification. We also offer Transport Manager CPC Road Haulage courses.

Examinations

To achieve Transport Manager CPC certification, you will be required to pass two examinations: the multiple-choice module and the case study module. You must pass both modules, but you are allowed to resit either or both exams if you do not pass at your first attempt.

You can choose whether to take paper-based examinations in person at our SEGA accredited examination centre in Braintree, Essex, or digital exams, which you can sit remotely, using an online proctored examination system. To sit the exams remotely, you must have the required computer equipment and a location free from distractions. Examinations are held on dates set by SEGA.

Approaches to study

There are two different approaches to study for the Transport Manager CPC certification in the passenger transport industry, which are outlined below. Please click on each option to read more.

  • In person classroom-based course

This classroom-based course takes place at our own premises in Braintree, Essex, and will be delivered by a trainer who is a transport industry professional. The majority of our candidates choose this option as it has a lot of advantages. Each course takes eight days, including one dedicated revision day. Examinations take place on a ninth day, the date of which is determined by SEGA.
Being based in the classroom helps many candidates to concentrate on the information they are required to absorb, and they tell us that they like being able to ask their trainers questions in person. They appreciate having every part of the syllabus explained in detail by an industry expert, helping them to prepare thoroughly for the exams.
If, as a manager, you are also occasionally called on to drive a passenger vehicle, please note that our Transport Manager CPC courses can count as all 35 hours of Driver CPC training required to renew a DQC (Driver Qualification Card). There is a further administration cost for this to cover uploading your training hours to the DVSA system, to ensure that you can obtain or renew your DQC. Please let us know when booking if you would like to include Driver CPC training hours.

  • Home study

If your current work or circumstances prevent you from attending courses, you may wish to study alone for the Transport Manager CPC qualification at your own pace, although it can be more difficult without any expert input or guidance.
If you do choose this route, we can provide you with both study materials and exam facilities. You are very welcome to book your Transport Manager online exams through us, or to attend paper-based exams in person at our SEGA accredited examination centre in Braintree, Essex.
