Driver CPC – Driving Standards and Road Safety (PCV)

Vulnerable Road Users:

• Group discussion examining a serious incident involving a road user
• Exploration of the possible aftermath of such an incident and the potential consequences that could befall all parties (both the victim and the driver, and both of their families)

Bridge Strikes:

• Precautions to take to avoid occurrence
• Possible consequences of a bridge strike (in the medium to long term) to all parties (including employer, senior leaders, drivers)

Poor driving standards and root causes of accidents, including:

• Speed
• Driver behaviour
• Reckless driving
• Distractions while driving
• Effects of tiredness on driving
• Driving under the influence

Highway code:

• Importance of the Highway Code and its key purposes
• Importance it plays in promoting safe use of the roads
• New road hierarchy
• Legal role of the Highway Code (detailing the rules and their context in law)

1 day (7 hours towards Driver CPC)
