Our OLAT (Operator Licence Awareness Training) course has been designed to give operators an overview of the undertakings they give when making an O Licence application. It also provides details of the responsibilities that the transport management team of any organisation should be aware of to ensure that they comply with the licence undertakings. The Company Director who signs the initial O Licence application is particularly obligated in this respect. Traffic Commissioners often recommend that Restricted Operator Licence holders attend an awareness course and they stipulate that this must be held at an approved centre, such as Novadata's training facility in Braintree, Essex.

Drivers' Hours Monitoring:

  • Drivers' hours rules and regulations, including EU and GB Domestic Rules
  • Working Time Directive, including Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations
  • Tachographs and drivers hours record keeping

Managing Drivers:

  • Recruiting and employing drivers, including driver handbook and employing agency drivers
  • Driver licensing, including operator checks of employees' licences and licence categories
  • Driver training, including Driver CPC scheduling advice

Current transport issues:

  • Bridge strikes - strategies and best practice for avoiding this serious issue

Managing Vehicles:

  • Planned preventive maintenance, including vehicle roadworthiness checks, mechanical condition and items affecting fleet standards, plus enforcement

Traffic enforcement:

  • Compliance checks and visits, including the roles of the DVSA and the police, and the DVSA Enforcement Sanctions Policy

1 day (can count as 7 hours towards Driver CPC)
